If you’re generous and helpful clap your hands

If you’re generous and helpful clap your hands

If you’re helpful and you know it

Then your life will surely show it

If you’re generous and helpful clap your hands

HELPFUL means to be cooperative by being unselfish, useful, and giving and GENEROUS comes from the old Latin word generosus that means of good and noble birth or excellent.  Accepting Jesus into our heart is our choice to become a child of the king, of royal birth, that produces such love in us that we produce the fruit of helpfulness and generosity.  Accepting Jesus makes you free to become all that a child of the King can be.

NEHEMIAH is our Biblical example of such gifts in action and Nehemiah is the man.

Nehemiah heard the call.  In tears he bowed his head.

He bravely went before the king and this is what he said

“I weep long for Jerusalem; its walls all broken down

They need to be built strong again to save God’s holy town”

The king was sympathetic then and said that he could go

With all the things that he would need to build and stop the foe

He mobilized the people and arranged them round the wall

They gave and pitched in gladly with spears ready one and all

Families and tribes all toiled; working with a will

They finished it in record time their duty to fulfill

The king helped Nehemiah, Nehemiah helped the people, the people helped Nehemiah and each other, and the wall was built in a record 52 days.  Now that is a marvelous story of generosity and helpfulness that we can follow when calamity befalls and help is needed as in a hurricane or tsunami.

The Red Cross is a helpful organization in America and now all over the world founded by a little lady with Jesus in her heart known as the “Angel of the Battlefield”.   Clara Barton was a nurse who saw the need to help the wounded and outfitted a van with medicine and supplies and then went to see the general.

Clara said, “I want to go”  The General loudly bellowed “No”

Clara asked a pretty please, the General shook a “no” with ease

Clara wrinkled up her brow, the General didn’t want a row

Again she asked to see the fight so he gave in and said alright

When you give money generously to the Red Cross you are being helpful wherever they are helping even though you are not there.  Did you know that God made the pelican with such a generous and helpful nature that we can learn from him about this part of loving?
